About Gould & Chapman - Grayshott

Gould & Chapman started in 1941 as cabinet makers and upholsterers who also carried out funerals. The family had two premises in Haslemere and Grayshott and in the 1980s used Ford Granada hearses.

In the late 1980s the business was acquired by G M Luff & Partners and moved to its present location at Avenue House, Headley Road, Grayshott where it continues to this day.

As part of the Ford Mears group, Gould & Chapman continues to provide a caring and professional service to the local community around Grayshott. Further investment in the business by Ford Mears has meant that Gould & Chapman is now able to offer a wider range of services and vehicle options, whilst still providing a personalised service that honours the legacy of Gould & Chapman’s independent, family-run business.

  • Office appointment with your local funeral director for completion of paperwork.
  • A plain coffin for cremation.
  • Cremated remains may be scattered in the grounds of the crematorium unwitnessed or
    to be collected in-person from our office within 7 days.
  • Cremation will be held at a crematorium of our choice.
  • Transfer to a crematorium in a suitable vehicle on a day and time of our choice.

Excluded from this service:

  • No embalming or viewing of the deceased or use of our Chapel of Rest.
  •  No funeral procession, minister/officiant, mourners attendance or Funeral service.
  • No additions available with this option.

Additional Funeral Director’s fees:

  • Out of hours removal, an additional £195.00

PROFESSIONALISM AND EXPERIENCE

Julie Macleod

Funeral Director & Office Manager
Julie joined the company in 2001 as an Administration Assistant at G M Luff & Partners, Haslemere. She started working with the administration side of the business. Julie then got involved in making funeral arrangements with clients and conducting funerals she’d arranged, providing support families throughout the whole process. In 2005 Julie had her second child, and returned to Luffs after maternity leave. When her family moved to Grayshott village she became Manager at Gould & Chapman, where she has remained since 2011.

Richard Wenman

Funeral Director

Richard started with the company around 1995 as a Chauffeur and Bearer. Just a few months later, he went on to conduct funerals. Moving around the company from Chauffeur and Bearer to Conductor enabled him to gather enormous experience over the years.

Richard has taken all this experience and applied it to arranging funerals, which he has been doing since 2015.

We understand that many family and friends wish to give donations to a charity in memory of the deceased and we see this as an important part of the service that we offer.

Our donations page is simple and easy to use. We’ve partnered with Memory Giving, a recognised donation platform for Funeral Directors to coordinate and collect memoriam donations. We set up the page for you, the page has the following optional features a photo of your loved one, space for a message, details of the service with a map and a space for tributes to be left. The page will typically close 6-8 weeks from the date it was created. 

Every donor will receive an acknowledgment, thanking them for their donation. Donations can be made securely by debit or credit card, with donations going straight to your nominated charity. The option of Gift Aid is available, with Gift Aid recovery, provide on behalf of the charity increases the gift by upwards of 18%.
