About GM LUFF & Partners

G M Luff Undertakers was established in 1897 by Thomas Marshall Luff, who worked his way up from Apprentice to Partner at Gardener, a local Haslemere carpentry business. Initially, the company was called Gardener & Luff Carpenter, Builders & Undertakers, but Thomas changed the name when he took control of the company following the death of Mr. Gardener in the early 1900s.

The business premises at 84 Lion Lane in Haslemere were purchased and converted into offices with an adjoining chapel and mortuary. Reliant on horse-drawn hearses at the time, Thomas’s son Godfrey later purchased the company’s first motor hearse, an Austin Wolesley, in 1924. Godfrey then later inherited the business following his father’s death in 1926.

Godfrey’s two sons-in-law joined the company in 1959, and the company was renamed G M Luff & Partners. The business continued to prosper after Godfrey died in 1968 and was eventually sold to ourselves in 1986, still retaining the G M Luff & Partners Ltd name. The premises were upgraded, refurbished and modernised throughout, whilst maintaining the Luff traditions and respecting its heritage.

As part of the Ford Mears group, G M Luff & Partners continues to provide a caring and professional service to the local community around Haslemere. Further investment in the business by Ford Mears has meant that G M Luff & Partners is now able to offer a wider range of services and vehicle options, whilst still providing a personalised service that honours the legacy G M Luff & Partners’ independent, family-run business.

    (within 10 miles, Monday-Friday, 08.30-17.00)
  • Office appointment with your local funeral director for completion of paperwork.
  • A plain coffin for cremation.
  • Cremated remains may be scattered in the grounds of the crematorium unwitnessed or
    to be collected in-person from our office within 7 days.
  • Cremation will be held at a crematorium of our choice.
  • Transfer to a crematorium in a suitable vehicle on a day and time of our choice.

Excluded from this service:

  • No embalming or viewing of the deceased or use of our Chapel of Rest.
  •  No funeral procession, minister/officiant, mourners attendance or Funeral service.
  • No additions available with this option.

Additional Funeral Director’s fees:

  • Out of hours removal, an additional £195.00

David has been Regional Manager at G M Luff & Partners since 2015. He started his career in the industry at P Boast & Sons in 2003 as a Chauffeur and Bearer. He then went on to become a Funeral Arranger and Conductor at P Boast & Sons in 2004, before joining Ford Mears Frimley as Office Manager in 2007.

Lisa joined the company in June 2011, following her husband Peter into the industry, who has been with the company for over 20 years. Lisa started at Mullards, then after a year moved to G M Luff in Haslemere, working as a Funeral Arranger and Conductor.

Faye Brian

Funeral Arranger

Faye loved in Godalming until her earlier 20’s moving a few miles to Bramley. Faye has been involved within the funeral industry from a young age. Her father being the Manager at Guildford Crematorium (1976-2008). In 1999, after gaining experience with a local funeral director. Faye joined her father at Guildford Crematorium carrying out numerous roles including, assisting bereaved families with all aspects of burial and cremation administration. In July 2019, 20 years after joining the Crematorium. Faye a decided a change was required and joined the company.

We understand that many family and friends wish to give donations to a charity in memory of the deceased and we see this as an important part of the service that we offer.

Our donations page is simple and easy to use. We’ve partnered with Memory Giving, a recognised donation platform for Funeral Directors to coordinate and collect memoriam donations. We set up the page for you, the page has the following optional features a photo of your loved one, space for a message, details of the service with a map and a space for tributes to be left. The page will typically close 6-8 weeks from the date it was created. 

Every donor will receive an acknowledgment, thanking them for their donation. Donations can be made securely by debit or credit card, with donations going straight to your nominated charity. The option of Gift Aid is available, with Gift Aid recovery, provide on behalf of the charity increases the gift by upwards of 18%.

We are located in a residential street 1 mile from Haslemere train station in the Weyhill/Shottermill area of Haslemere. Leaving the station turn right proceed through Weyhill shops at the traffic lights Lion Lane will be on the right hand side with a M&S store and the Appletree Public House clearly visible. We are located approx ¾ mile on the right hand side just past a red telephone box on the left.

Street parking is available but can be limited during school drop of and collection times (9am & 3pm)
